Lets all get together for our cause
We offer training and support to help individuals with visual impairments gain the skills and confidence needed to live independently.
We champion policies and practices that promote equality and accessibility for people who are blind or visually impaired.
We create platforms for social inclusion, fostering connections and support networks within the blind community.
The mission of the Sri Lanka welfare for the blind is to create a world of no limits for people who are blind or visually impaired. We mobilize leaders, advance understanding, and champion impactful policies and practices using research and data.
This is an opportunity, if we are ready to seize it together, to create a world with no limits—where people who are blind or visually impaired are working, going to school, and participating in community life, unhindered by barriers.
Our eyes are our window to the world. They enable us to see the colour and marvellous world around us in all its glory. But not everyone is blessed with the magic of sight.
Visual impairment affects about 2.2 billion people globally, a number that may appear small compared to the overall population figure of the world, but does not make it any less of an issue to address.
Living without the ability to see things around us is challenging enough already and coupling it with the barrie

White Cane Safety Day is a national observance in the United States, celebrated on October 15 of each year since 1964. The date is set aside to celebrate the achievements of people who are blind or visually impaired and the important symbol of blindness and tool of independence, the white cane. On October 6, 1964, a joint resolution of the U.S. Congress, H.R. 753, was signed into law as Pub.L. 88–628, and codified at 36 U.S.C. § 142. This resolution authorized the President of the United States to proclaim October 15 of each year as “White Cane Safety Day”.
